Top Ten Tips for Successful Arts PR

  1. Plan ahead with the Press Planner (this is on the homepage)
  2. Create several campaigns for each show in Your Campaigns according to deadlines e.g. Long Leads, Medium Leads, Short Leads and a Hot List as well.
  3. Research our media directories really well to find relevant press for your show add them to the campaigns by lead-time.
  4. Only add regional press who cover the actual area of your event so you don't waste time.
  5. Go through the online sections of the arts media carefully. Follow the links to sites where you add your own event and upload your own images.
  6. Review your press material regularly. If you don't get much response to the first press release and images then change it.
  7. Think long and hard about subject lines. We all use these to decide which emails to open.
  8. Send out small, targetted campaigns to press in time for their deadlines.
  9. Get on the telephone! All the numbers are listed and speak to all the key journalists.
  10. Use the Follow-Up List function in Your Campaigns and make notes on all your conversations. And one more ....
  11. Email everyone with a reminder about the preview the day before as many people just forget and phone the hotlist up too!
