The 40th issue of arts media contacts has hit our desks. We are proud of the directory's success over the years and, looking back, it has come such a long way since the first ever edition in 1995. Back then it had no email addresses and no websites as the internet was in its infancy. Forget Social Media, Fascimile machines and Teletext were as hi-tech as it got back then. Images for press were sent as slides or transparencies in Self Addressed Envelopes so that they could be returned. PR is so much quicker, cheaper and easier now, and there is a vast new media for exhibition coverage. But, despite all the media advances, we know the role of our directory is the same as before: to give you all the detailed information you need so that your exhibitions and events are as well publicised and well attended as possible. And that we strive to do.
The new issue contains, as always, fully updated press contacts, an array of exciting new entries, as well as two special reports on using video as a platform for promotion, and advertising your London exhibitions for free. Do take a moment to read these articles to ensure that you are getting as much publicity for your events and exhibitions as possible.
If you haven't already signed up to receive issue 40, please get in touch on 01273 488996 or email subs@artsmediacontacts.co.uk and we will arrange for a copy to be sent out. You can also send your news and comments to this address. We love to get feedback from our readers. To all you performing arts subscribers out there, your next directory will be published at the end of June.
Best wishes,
Emma Mitchell
