Arts Media Contacts is a specialist arts marketing service. It was founded in 1995
by a group of art journalists (from magazines including Blueprint and Tate etc,) and
press officers at museums including The National Gallery, who wanted to make the
process of getting press coverage smoother for all parties. The aims were twofold:
for journalists to get a steady stream of relevant press releases in time for their
deadlines; and for galleries to have all the right information on the arts media so that
they could achieve this.
The Arts Media Contacts printed media directories were first published in 1995.
They are now an industry standard. Directories for music and the performing arts
were launched in 1997, and our online service in 2000. In 2004 we introduced a US
version of our service with fully international media contacts.
Arts Media Contacts is owned by Artsinform Communications Ltd. and based in
Sussex.
